About Us

We are a group of software and web application professionals located in Southeastern Michigan, USA, with experience in every phase of product development. Our individual experience ranges from 7 to 24 years -- this makes for a great combination of invaluable “been-there-done-that” experience, along with the latest technology skills. We include on our team librarians, an information architect, a taxonomist, developers & engineers, an accessibility expert, a navigation designer and a usability professional. We specialize in content-, data aggregated- and library-related services, but our experience encompasses literally EVERY kind of software or web app you can imagine.

Our teams are assembled by project. We work together because we trust each other as team members to work hard, think creatively and strategically, keep in balance individually and collectively, get it done on time or early, get it done within budget parameters, and simultaneously keep our colelctive sense of humor. For us, a great product is merely what we expect we're supposed to do.

Usability Design, or fixing the issues...

We call the services that we provide “Usability Design”. Most people in our field will tell you they provide “usability”, “usability analysis”, or “usability testing”. And while we’re very good at these activities, we prefer to define our task as “designing so that the product is usable – right from inception.”

So that’s why we’re emphasizing design rather than testing. By the time a product is nearly ready for release, if you’re going to test it to see exactly how usable or useful it is, it’s usually too late to make any big changes that could substantially improve the product, your sales and your ROI.

Of course in real life, we don’t get to do much designing at the beginning of the project. In fact, most of the time usability folks get called in, it’s because something has gone wrong and it needs to be fixed after the product is already built. So if you find yourself in that particular fix; don’t fret. It’s a common problem and we’re here to help.

Our strong suit is helping you identify exactly what needs to be fixed – and how to do that without a major overhaul. And in keeping your new strategy in mind so that you’ll save more money and resources up-front, get more happy customers, and retain them.
